In the heart of Coolidge, Georgia, stands the historic Sam Evans house, a stately reminder of a bygone era. Built in 1915 by the skilled hands of Sam Evans himself, the house was a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication to his family. Sam Evans, a carpenter and a visionary by heart, poured his soul into every plank and beam of the house, ensuring it would stand the test of time.

The house became a hub of activity in the small town of Coolidge. Over the decades, it witnessed generations of Evans family gatherings, celebrations, and quiet moments. Each room held echoes of 

This site is dedicated to preservation and restoration of the historic Sam Evan's house, located in downtown Coolidge in the center of town. My grandfather, Sam Evans, was born in 1878 and Sam was a nickname.  His real name was Emory Luther Evans.  He owned and operated a sawmill while in his 30's. He sawed and did the carpentry to build this house. 

I am named after him. He was one of the founders of Coolidge, GA along with my grandmother, Mrs. Callye Camilla Cay Evans. The house was built in 1915. My uncle and aunt, Norman Evans and Anne Evans, were born in this house. My father, Lamar Evans, was born in the house next door while this one was under construction. Sam Evans was Mayor of Coolidge during the 1920's and superintendent for schools in Thomas County in the 1940's.   He was also a deacon of Coolidge Baptist Church, which he helped found. 

The house is unique in its quaint style and I am in the process of renovating right now. I hope to have the best collection of antiques from that period, including the surrounding area. 

The house has the original China dishes and hand-made quilts used by Callye, and other items of hers. She hand-made each quilt in the collection. It also has the most extensive Thomas County bottle collection in existence.
